PHILEMON: A LETTER BORN IN CONFLICT
Paul, a prominent author in the New Testament found himself in quite the predicament. He has led Philemon, a wealthy land owner and now Pastor of the assembly in Colossae into a relationship with Jesus. But Philemon also has a runaway slave named Onesimus, who made his way from Colossae to Rome and also got born again through Paul.
Paul, wanting to further inject health into God’s family, realizes that although Onesimus is massively helpful to him while he’s on house-arrest in Rome, he has to send him back to reconcile with Philemon.
The entire letter of Philemon is Paul’s appeal to Philemon that he would receive this once useless slave Onesimus back, but no longer as a slave, now as a beloved brother, and fellow member of God’s family.
I believe that this letter will encourage you, as well as equip you with the tools needed to go straight ahead into conflict in a way that honors God, yourself, and others. To go along with this series, I have written a 36 Day Devotional that will help you further spiral into the text to understand what God was saying through this little New Testament letter.
Thanks so very much for blessing me with your inspired word! Prasie God and many blessings for you and your family.
Miss you guys I truly hope and pray you are doing well and that you are experiencing freedom and the joy that comes from following God’s direction in your life.
May your steps continue to be blessed and may the annointing word of God continuing to grow in you and the message that you bring to other believers. May your family continue to be nurtured, comforted and protected from harm, may all you do to glorify God and his Kingdom be a comfort to you all. May you experience all God’s gifts, promises and encouragement. May you all know how loved and precious you are to him.
