At Forerunner Christian Fellowship we have been listening to various topics from the Bible through a wide variety of preachers here at the IHOP-KC mission’s base. But about four months ago, Mike Bickle started a series about “Abiding In Love” found within John 14-17.
In this series Mike has been dusting off some basic Christian truths that we have heard before but are also easily forgotten or even lost if not consistently before us. When Paul said in Romans 10:17 that “…faith comes by hearing the Word of God…” he wasn’t saying that it comes by just hearing one time. He was saying that it comes by hearing, and hearing and continually hearing.
It’s important for us to look at basic truths related to our fundamental relationship with Jesus so that as we move into the more of Him, we don’t lose sight of the foundation that the more is built upon. Here are a few quotes from this week’s sermon;
“Our life becomes EPIC as we diligently press into a lifelong journey, knowing that He longs to be deeply engaged with us and that He sees, is moved by and remembers all that we do in our quest to commune with Him in obedient love.”
“We are not pleading, or talking Jesus into a relationship with us. He’s pleading and trying to talk us into a relationship with Him.”
“Activity is not the essence of our relationship with God, but it’s a part of our relationship with Him.”
“Our obedience is an expression of love for Christ and without obedience to Him, there is no real love.”
“It’s possible to be more committed to networking, and building our relationships with man, than we build our relationship with Christ.”
“Our Bible study is to lead us into conversation with God by giving the us the conversational material for our prayer life. (Prayer) is simply speaking truths of the Word back to Him as we read it.”
