Teaching on the subject of prayer isn’t something that is taught all that often at the International House Of Prayer. But this weekend at the FCF service Mike Bickle covered some very powerful realities as we engage with God in the place of prayer. What many have found is that growing in the place of prayer doesn’t come as much from reading books on prayer (though this is valuable) but from encountering and studying the Man Christ Jesus.
It’s from this place of study and encounter that Mike has gleaned much truth about praying steadfastly for decades. For the past 30 years Mike has been leading ministries that have sustained prayer meetings 7 days a week. More than youthful passion (which in his fifties he doesn’t have any more) and human zeal, it’s the beauty of Jesus and His worth that has kept Mike praying constantly. And in this message Mike shares some really pastoral and practical truths about praying effectively.
Here are some quotes from this service;
“Perseverance doesn’t earn us anything from God.”
“The subject of prayer has far more to do with us “feeling it.” When we pray and don’t “feel” anything, it doesn’t mean that God doesn’t “feel” it.”
“The story of Elisha isn’t about the great prophet of God, but about the Great God of the prophet.”
“We cannot (in the temporal) properly measure the effectiveness of prayer in impacting our heart, others or the nations. Eternity will tell the story of the impact of our prayers.”
