This past Friday night (June 20th 2014) and Sunday morning (June 22nd 2014) our Pastor Mike Bickle shared a great message from the life of David titled “Ziklag: David’s Revelation of God’s Delight.” This message was first shared on Friday night at one of our two annual summer teen conferences called Fascinate. And then shared again on Sunday morning with our Church family, Forerunner Christian Fellowship.
In this message Mike challenged us to receive understanding of God’s heart towards us even while we struggle with compromise and our personal maturity in Christ. Mike was by no means suggesting that God has delight in us with deliberate, unrepentant sin, but rather that God is still for us even though we struggle with sin and are developing Christlike lives. The power of this truth is that it causes us to run to Him in crisis and not from Him.
Here are some quotes from his message:
“There is a difference between stumbling and our faith failing. One is temporary (stumbling) and one is permeant (failing).”
“The mercy of God is greater than our shortcomings, regardless how great they seem.”
“David had plenty of moments of stumbling throughout his life, but this stumbling never led to utter and compete failure. In weakness he never threw in the towel.”
“Because of David’s confidence in God’s heart towards him, in the midst of great stumbling, he didn’t give up his dream in God.”
“A moment or season of stumbling doesn’t have to be or mean a longterm way of life.”
